After tasting the most delicate matcha from an organic farm in Japan, our founder Li Gong had an epiphany. Leaving his Silicon Valley job behind, he set out on a mission to bring high-quality, organically-farmed matcha to the masses, founding Encha Matcha in 2014. Our goal is to share the same rich, tender matcha Li Gong first tasted with the world — from our farms in Uji, Japan to your cup at home.

We use ancient traditions for growing shade-grown, hand-picked, stone-ground tea leaves — which makes all the difference for quality, flavor, and health benefits. Encha's matcha is USDA Certified Organic, meaning our farms are 100% certified organic, with no use of pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, and regular testing for heavy metals and harmful chemicals.

Our matcha comes from two farms located in the hills of Uji, Japan, with all powder being shade grown and stone ground for optimal flavor and health benefits. The three distinct grades offer varying taste profiles and uses. Ceremonial Grade is ground from premium, first harvest leaves, providing a delicate, smooth taste best enjoyed mixed with water. Latte Grade is ground from standard, first harvest leaves, suitable for mixing with milk. Culinary Grade is made from premium, second harvest leaves, ideal for cooking and baking.

Matcha differs from green tea as the leaves are shade-grown, producing more theanine for a sense of serenity to balance the caffeine. The removal of stems also creates a softer flavor, and consuming the whole leaf provides additional health benefits like antioxidants.

Our premium, 100% organic ceremonial matcha powder is ground from the most tender leaves, plucked each spring. It offers a perfectly balanced, sweet, earthy, smooth, and velvety consistency when whisked into water. Encha matcha provides a natural pick-me-up, rich in antioxidants, for clean and consistent energy and mental clarity without any crash. A 30g size lasts 2 weeks with a recommended daily intake of 1 level tsp (2 grams).
